Section 8

The Winchester Housing Authority administers the Housing Choice Voucher (also known as Section 8) program for Winchester. The Housing Choice Voucher program is HUD’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. WHA provides housing assistance (by issuance of a voucher) on behalf of the family or individual participants who then find their own housing in the private market where the owner agrees to rent under the program. This unit may include the family's present residence.

Family Self Sufficiency - (FSS)

FSS is a program that enables HUD assisted families to increase their earned income and reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies.
